The idea of building a hostel became quintessential for students who come to Mumbai and face challenges in finding a residential place ‘just like their home.’ This painstaking problem was more crucial for CA, as these students do not have any college life exposure. This problem was identified by the then eminent personalities of the Marwari Community; hence, the noble social service idea started taking shape in the year 1957, in the name of "Rajasthan Vidyarthi Griha”

1958
rVG educational foundation idea unearthed...
The then Office bearers who were the dignitaries of Marwari Community, sitting over a cup of tea discussed and decided the need of a hostel where Rajasthani students from various parts of the country could come and prepare for higher studies, in particular the course of Chartered Accountancy. They strongly felt an urgent need to help the students in developing their career and consequently came up with the noble idea of constructing ‘RVG Educational Foundation’.
1959
Start of a journey
The way the work on the above dreams started was indeed an inspiring one. A plot of 3500 sq. Yards at Lallubhai Park Rd , Andheri (West) was purchased. It's proximity to Railway Station and Bus Stand was considered as a major location advantage as the students could reach to & from any part of the city easily.
1960
A Big Day - Foundation Ceremony
The foundation ceremony was held under the Chairmanship of the Late Shri Fatehchand Paliram Jhunjhunwala in a traditional manner. The Foundation Stone was laid by the then Hon. Chief Minister of Rajasthan Shri Mohanlal Sukhadia on 27 th April 1960 .
1961
The Construction
Some generous donors from the Marwari Community came forward & donated a large sum wholeheartedly. The main contribution came from Late Shri Madanlalji Rajpuria as the main donor, and consequently the proposed building was named after him as Shri Madanlal Rajpuria Vidyarthi Griha. The construction work of the building started in 1961.
1967
Student's First Library
A Library was constructed & was ready to use by the students for their benefit.
1971
The second floor
The second floor was ready to accommodate more students with increase in total capacity from 94 to 151 students.
1981
The 3rd Floor
The construction of third floor of the hostel was completed and the total capacity was increased from 151 to 225 students .
1986
The 4th Floor
The construction of fourth floor of the hostel was completed and the total capacity was increased from 225 to 300 students.
2007
Golden Jubilee year
RVG Educational Foundation celebrated its Golden Jubilee year under the Chairmanship of Shri Nirmal P Jhunjhunwala. Shri Ramswaroop Gadia, Trustee, inaugurated the two day celebration. Shri Hariom Tulsyan, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai presided over the function. The Chief Guests of the function were Shri Gulabchand Kataria, the then Home Minister, Shri Ghanshyam Tiwari, the then Education Minister, Shri Madan Dilawar, the then Minister for Social Welfare of Rajasthan, Shri Sunil Talati, the then President of ICAI, Shri Prafulla Chhajed, the then Chairman of WIRC of ICAI and Shri Motilal Oswal, Chairman of Motilal Oswal Securities Ltd. The function was attended by esteemed dignitaries of Mumbai and a large number of Ex-RVG Educational Foundationians.
2008
Another Milestone - Agrawal Oswal Chatrawas
Over the years a need was felt to accommodate more and more students. In this context it was a landmark in the history of RVG Educational Foundation when the Trustees, the Working Committee members and some ex-RVG Educational Foundationians perceived a plan to construct a new hostel building. Soon it became possible to mobilize a large sum of money through generous donations from the Marwadi Community and Ex-RVG Educational Foundationians. Shri Raamdeo Agrawal and Shri Motilal Oswal donated a very handsome sum and the proposed building was named as Agrawal Oswal Chhatrawas. The foundation ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Shri Vinod Deora and the foundation stone was laid by renowned industrialist Padmabhushan Dr. Shri Badrinarayan R Barwale.
2009
Inception of RVG Alumni Association
Enthused by the active role of ex-RVG Educational Foundationians in the welfare activities of RVG Educational Foundation and to promote and foster mutually beneficial interaction among them, the RVG Educational Foundation Trust decided to form ‘RVG Educational Foundation Alumni’ in the year 2009. Since then the RVG Educational Foundation Alumni is actively involved in various professional & welfare activities for its members and the students of RVG Educational Foundation hostel.
2011
RVG - Agrawal Oswal Chattrawas
The construction of the modern and well-equipped hostel building was completed in 2011. The new Building had 5 floors to accommodate 210 boy students.
2013
RVG - First Girls Hostel
RVG did not stop here, and now it was the turn of the girls in 2013 to contribute to nation growth with a new campus, ‘Vijay Shrigopal Khetan Girls Hostel', in Goregaon East with 138 students capacity.
2019
An Expansion Initiative
To accommodate more aspiring students, the expansion of Agarwal Oswal Chatrawas was initiated. Here again, Shri Raamdeo Agarwal and Shri Motilal Oswal generously contributed to this noble cause.
2023
A Feather in One's Cap
The expansion was completed and entailed six floors to accommodate 240 boys. Another top floor was built, overlooking the Arabian Sea, which is equipped with an art music and performance lab, fitness center, audio, visual, and ideation center, walking library, lounge, indoor sports, and networking zone.
To meet the emerging needs of aspiring CA girl students, the idea of adding more capacity for girls was conceptualized and gave birth to another campus. This campus is named after the parents of our alumni, Shri Rajesh Sharma, who made a generous and substantial contribution for this campus. It can accommodate 200 plus girls.
